During the time of the great wooden vessels Oulu was the worlds leading city of tar exporting. Via river Oulujoki and the City of Oulu tar was transported from the forests to the world market. Enjoying the ride of special boat, called ”paltamo” we follow the route from the early days to the open air museum located at Island Turkansaari. At the museum guests will have time to look around and learn more about the tar history.

After that you will have time to look around Koiteli by yourself walking over the bridges and along the wooden walking paths. After the activites take a moment and enjoy a snack by an open fire.

This trip takes you to Koiteli rapids and gets you familiar with two different fishing methods; lurefishing and flyfishing. Our guide will also show you how to tie flys. You have plenty of time to fish, enjoy the silence and the beautiful landscape and have a tasty lunch by open fire. Lunch is made of fish, of course.
